This engaging and interactive activity focuses on teaching young learners about capital letters and full stops while allowing them to create their own storybook.

Interactive Learning for Early Readers

The Finish the Story activity is aimed at kindergarten students who are beginning to

learn about capital letters and full stops in their grammar lessons. This free resource combines reading, writing, and creativity to make learning punctuation enjoyable and memorable.

What's Included in the Finish the Story Activity

Our Finish the Story activity includes a detailed process to guide students through creating their own storybook:

  • Sentence Corrections: Page 1 of the document contains 7 sentences, each missing a capital letter at the beginning and a full stop at the end. Students read and identify the errors.

  • Book Creation: Teachers print pages 2 through 9 and staple them together to form a booklet. Each page in the booklet has a number corresponding to the sentences on page 1.

  • Copying and Editing: Students copy the sentences onto the corresponding pages in the booklet, correcting the punctuation as they go.

  • Illustration: Once the sentences are corrected and copied, students color in the pictures to complete their storybook.

A Story About Animals on a Camping Trip

As students work through the Finish the Story activity, they create a delightful story about animals going on a camping trip. This narrative not only makes the activity more engaging but also helps students understand the importance of proper punctuation in storytelling.
