Looking for an engaging way to help students learn about angles and protractors? Our First to 180 Degrees game is perfect for grade 3, grade 4, grade 5, and grade 6 students who are exploring angles in their maths lessons. This free, print-and-play game combines hands-on learning with friendly competition, making it a fun way to reinforce students’ understanding of angles

and protractors.

How to Prepare the First to 180 Degrees Game

Preparation is simple and quick, and once set up, the game can be used repeatedly in the classroom or at home. Follow these easy steps to get the game ready for play:

  • Print and Laminate: Print a game board (page 2) for each player and laminate them for durability. Laminated boards can be used with dry-erase markers for endless gameplay!

  • Set Up for Play: The game is designed for two players or small groups, making it versatile for various classroom settings.

  • Prepare the Spinner: Print page 4 and attach a spinner, or use a pencil and paper clip to create a makeshift spinner.

  • Prepare the Arrows: Print page 3, cut out the arrows, and laminate them. Attach the arrows to the protractor on each player’s game board (page 2) using a split pin.

How to Play First to 180 Degrees

The game is simple yet effective in helping students understand angles and develop their protractor skills. Here’s how to play:

  • Distribute Game Boards: Each player receives a laminated game board (page 2) with an arrow attached using a split pin.

  • Starting Position: All players begin with their arrows pointing to 0º on the protractor.

  • Spin and Move: Players take turns spinning the spinner to determine how many degrees to move their arrow. The aim is to reach exactly 180º on the protractor without going over.

  • Winning the Game: The first player to land exactly on 180º wins the game! If a player’s spin would cause them to exceed 180º, they must wait until their next turn to spin again.
