About the Resource

"Plan a Holiday" is designed to make

math practice fun and relevant by allowing students to plan their dream holiday while working on their addition skills. The resource includes multiple sections where students make choices and calculate the total cost of their holiday, reinforcing their ability to add 2-digit and 3-digit numbers.

How It Works

  1. Choosing Items

    • Transport: Students start by selecting their mode of transport. The options include:

      • Canoe

      • Bus

      • Car

      • Helicopter

      • Plane

      • Zeppelin

    • Accommodation: Next, they choose where they will stay during their holiday. The choices are:

      • Small Tent

      • Large Tent

      • Caravan

      • Log Cabin

      • Hotel

    • Luggage: Students then pick their luggage from the following options:

      • Small Pack

      • Large Pack

      • Suitcase

      • Binoculars

      • Tickets

      • Souvenir

  2. Calculating Costs Each item in the sections above has a price tag, either a 2-digit or 3-digit number. Students record their chosen items and their prices on the second page of the worksheet. They then add up the prices to find the total cost of their holiday.
