Attention, teachers and homeschoolers!

We have an exciting free resource to share with you today that will make learning about suffixes engaging and fun for your grade 1 and grade 2 students. Allow us to introduce the "Sorting Suffixes" worksheet!

The "Sorting Suffixes" worksheet is designed to help students practice identifying and categorising words with

different suffixes. By engaging in a hands-on activity, students will strengthen their understanding of suffixes while improving their vocabulary and reading skills.

To access the worksheet, simply click the download button located at the bottom of this page. It's completely free and ready to be utilized!

Provide students with scissors and glue for the activity and explain to your students that they need to cut out the words at the bottom of the page. These words all contain a suffix. Instruct students to examine each word and identify the suffix. The three suffixes they will be working with are: "ing," "ed," and "s."

Students should then glue the words into the correct box based on the suffix they contain. For example, if a word ends with "ing," it goes in the "ing" box. If it ends with "ed," it goes in the "ed" box, and so on.

Encourage students to take their time and read each word carefully before categorising it. This will help reinforce their understanding of how suffixes work.

Remember, the goal is to make learning about suffixes engaging and interactive. By using the "Sorting Suffixes" worksheet and implementing these additional tips, you'll help your grade 1 and grade 2 students strengthen their grammatical skills while fostering a love for language.
